Rooted Presence Counseling

Regina Filomeno, LCSW

an embodied, relational approach to healing & growth.

Now accepting new clients! Telehealth therapy for Illinois residents.

Insurance accepted, self-pay welcome!

Welcome to Rooted Presence Counseling

At Rooted Presence Counseling, I offer a place for adults who are ready to slow down and return to themselves. Here, healing is not rushed; it unfolds through presence, curiosity, and the quiet wisdom your body has carried all along.

My work weaves together somatic therapy, relational attunement, expressive exploration, and trauma-informed care. These approaches help you feel held, grounded, and gently reconnected to your inner knowing.

Together, we create a space where you can deeply root, soften, breathe, and follow the small threads of truth that lead you back to your own radiance. If you’ve been longing for a space to slow down, reconnect, and heal in an embodied way, you’re welcome here.

As my practice continues to take shape, I’m partnering with Grow Therapy and SonderMind to offer telehealth appointments to Illinois residents. If you feel called to this work, I invite you to visit my Grow Therapy or SonderMind provider pages & connect with me.

Therapeutic Philosophy

Healing is not about fixing what’s broken, but remembering what has always been whole.

Through an embodied, relational, and compassionate approach, we explore how your body carries stories of both pain and resilience — and how healing becomes possible when we move at the rhythm of your nervous system. Therapy is a sacred space for reconnection. A place to return to yourself. A place where groundedness and radiance can coexist.

“Healing begins when we reconnect the mind to the body. From that rooted place, our inner radiance naturally emerges.” ~Regina Filomeno, LCSW

Frameworks

  • I don’t use a one-size-fits-all model. Instead, I thoughtfully combine evidence-based approaches based on your goals, nervous system, lived experience, and what’s happening in your life right now. This allows therapy to stay flexible, responsive, and personalized—especially for complex or layered concerns.

  • Somatic work helps us understand how stress, emotions, and trauma show up in the body. We may work with grounding, breath, or body awareness to support nervous system regulation and a greater sense of safety. This can be especially helpful if you feel overwhelmed, shut down, or “stuck in your head.”

  • These approaches support awareness, emotional regulation, and self-compassion. Mindfulness practices are adapted gently and practically—there is no expectation to “empty your mind” or do things perfectly. The focus is learning how to notice without judgment and respond with more choice.

  • Jungian-informed work explores patterns, symbolism, and deeper meaning in your experiences. This might include working with inner parts, recurring themes, or imagery—not to analyze you, but to support insight, integration, and a stronger relationship with yourself.

  • My work is combines evidence-based therapy alongside reflective and creative approaches to help you understand and process your experiences, especially when words alone aren’t enough.

  • While my overall philosophy is integrative, my tools are eclectic. This means I draw from a variety of evidence-based techniques depending on what you need in the moment—especially helpful for ADHD/AuDHD, motivation, task initiation, emotional regulation, and executive functioning challenges.

  • DBT offers practical tools for managing intense emotions, navigating relationship stress, and coping during difficult moments. I use DBT skills flexibly and collaboratively, not rigidly, focusing on what actually helps you feel steadier and more capable in daily life.

  • ACT focuses on helping you relate differently to difficult thoughts and feelings, rather than trying to eliminate them. Together, we work on clarifying what matters to you and building skills to move toward a meaningful life—even when anxiety, self-doubt, or emotional discomfort are present.

  • While not a formal evidence-based therapeutic practice, NET is a body-based, trauma-informed approach that explores how emotional stress can be held in the nervous system.

When appropriate and with your consent, elements of this framework may be used to support emotional processing and regulation, always at a pace that feels safe and grounded.
